Kicking off the third edition of the SIAD International Award:conceived by the Industrial Group in collaboration with OICCE(Interprofessional Organization for the Communication of Knowledge in Oenology) aims to promote research for the innovation of technical gases in viticulture and oenology through the use of technical gases. The latter are an important tool for achieving the highest quality of wine through the implementation of state-of-the-art methodologies.

The award, held annually, is open to university researchers, technicians, students, companies, consortia and those who present research projects that have as their subject the innovative use of nitrogen, carbon dioxide, argon and oxygen within the entire viticulture/wine sector supply chain.

Concrete support for research

The award aims to concretely stimulate research by supporting projects that develop new solutions that optimize grape processing, from the initial stages in the vineyard to the final moments in the winery. To this end, it plans to fund research at any stage of development (including start-up or in-progress), Through the allocation of a contribution of six thousand euros. In addition, the winner will also receive a SIAD medal, which will be presented at a technical and scientific event scheduled during 2022.

The projects will be evaluated by a jury composed of seven members identified from Italian and international professors and technicians.

The Scientific and Technical Committee will evaluate applications primarily on the basis of their potential impact on the following aspects:

  • Level of originality and novelty;
  • Environmental sustainability;
  • Improvement of wine quality and production processes;
  • Expected benefit/cost ratio;
  • Timing and cost of completion and industrial-scale applicability.

How to apply: deadlines and how to apply

Proposals should be submitted in the form of a written paper containing a description of the project (text up to two folders in length, document in duplicate, one in original language and one in English). They should be emailed to submission_siadprize@siad.eu and received by the Committee Chair by February 28, 2022.

Each candidate will receive a response confirming participation in the selection, no later than March 31, 2022.
